Phil earned his BS in Biology at Stony Brook University. His masters project analyzes how the landscape shapes contemporary gene flow in brown and black bears in Southeast Alaska as well as the differences in gene flow patterns between species. He is also studying spatial distribution patterns and demography using harvest data for both species over the past thirty years across the same area.
